Why "As Seen On TV" Potato Express Reviews Can't Be Trusted

One of the most aired As Seen on TV products of the year, Potato Express is getting unfair product reviews for one stupid reason.

Customers who use the microwave pouch with the flap side UP get poor results. People who used Potato Express with the flap side DOWN have the same experience as the commercial, potatoes as if they were baked in the oven.

The reason flap side down produces potatoes exactly like it does on TV, is because the pouch maintains a secure seal, keeping the cooking heat inside the bag. Flap side up, the heat escapes and potatoes take longer to cook or cook unevenly.

In other words, the flap side up or down was the difference between good reviews and bad reviews. And it's all the manufacturers fault.

The Potato Express instructions clearly state flap side down, but the picture on the box shows the Potato Express being used flap side up.

People have been asking us how we figured this out. Easy. We tested the product and, like everyone else, did not look at the directions, we looked at the picture on the box. Disappointed in the results we read the one page instruction sheet, corrected our error and from there forward had perfectly fluffy potatoes.

EXCLUSIVE: We also discovered four tips along the way that will give you a 5-star experience.

1)THE POTATOES MUST BE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE BEFORE MICROWAVING. If potatoes are taken from the fridge cold and put directly into the Potato Express pouch they will not cook properly. This is also true for frozen potatoes. Reviews for Potato Express will sometimes mention this point.

2) EACH POTATO SHOULD BE WRAPPED IN A PAPER TOWEL BEFORE INSERTING INTO THE POUCH. Users have noted that this keeps the Potato Express pouch clean and helps absorb excess moisture. The Potato Express pouches are machine washable, so this tip simply extends the time between pouch washings.

3) FOUR MINUTES COOKING TIME IS A STARTING POINT Some Potato Express reviews note that consumers should figure cooking time at one minute per ounce. The 4 minute cook time applies to medium size, four ounce potatoes. A large potato, about six ounces, might take up to six minutes.

Testers found the microwave potato pouch worked well with Russet potatoes (the classic and ideal baking potato), sweet potatoes, yams, red potatoes, purple potatoes, Yukon Gold potatoes (often used in potato salad), and white potatoes describing the results as "fluffy perfection".
